The problem

Photo-a-day challenges turn into a chore

Most 30-day photo lists are a word a day to post online. After a week you are rushing a shot to keep the streak. The point was to slow down and notice, not to fill a grid.

Who it is for

  • People who want a calmer, daily creative habit
  • Phone photographers looking for more than snapshots
  • Anyone exploring mindfulness through doing, not sitting
  • Photographers in a creative rut

  • A word prompt and nothing else
  • Nothing to look back on

FAQ

Questions people ask

What is a 30-day photo challenge?

A daily prompt for a month to build a habit of taking photos. This one is a mindful version: each day is a dare to notice something, with guidance on how to approach it and a journal for what you felt.

What equipment do I need?

Just your smartphone. The dares work with any camera; the focus is on seeing mindfully, not technical skill.

What is mindful photography?

Taking photos slowly and with attention: noticing light, texture and detail before you press the shutter, and paying attention to how the moment feels.

What is the difference between journey lengths?

Every journey starts with dare 1 and ends with dare 90. A 7-day journey takes a quick tour through awareness, curiosity, deepening and mastery, while the 90-day journey walks through every dare in order.

Can I get a daily reminder?

Yes. Switch on the daily reminder for a browser notification while the page is open, and download the calendar reminder (.ics) for when it is closed. The notification does not reveal the dare.

Will my progress be saved?

Yes, in your browser. Clearing browser data removes it, so export your journal as a PDF if you want a copy.

Do I have to post the photos?

No. Nothing is posted. Your photos stay on your camera and your journal stays on your device.

What if I miss a day?

Pick up where you left off. The Path page shows every day, and you can repeat a finished day.
