Yes. Sand Art Studio runs in your browser on a computer, tablet or phone. Pour coloured sand on a tray and draw through it with your finger, fill a sand bottle layer by layer, or draw with light on a sand animation light table.
It piles up at a real sand slope and avalanches when a pile gets too steep, slides when you tilt the tray, and is pushed aside into ridges by your finger. Pour one colour over another and the new colour coats the pile; dig through it and the colour underneath shows.
Pour one colour at a time and move the funnel so each layer makes hills and valleys. Then push a thin stick down along the glass and the layers bend into points. In the Sand Bottle style the Layers button changes the colour for you while you pour, and the Stick tool does the poking.
Drawing with sand on a glass table lit from below. Where the sand is thin the light shines through, so you draw by moving sand away from the light. The Light Table style works the same way, and you can add a light above to see the colours of the sand.
Yes. On the Sand Tray the Rake draws parallel lines, the Finger draws single grooves down to the tray, and Smooth levels the sand again. Pour a dark pile as a stone and rake circles around it.
Yes. Choose the hourglass under Canvas, fill it, then press Flip. The sand runs through the waist grain by grain; a full glass takes about 40 seconds.
Yes. Tap the phone button on the tilt pad and tilt the phone itself: on the tray the sand slides downhill, and in the bottle it falls whichever way the phone points. On iPhone and iPad the browser asks once for permission to use motion.
Yes. Choose 9:16 for a phone, 4:5 for a post, or 1:1 or 16:9, and save a PNG at 4K (4096 px on the long side), 3K or 2K.
