Input Monitoring IN Routes live microphone audio through the track’s 3D panner, EQ, dynamics, and Room Maker reverb in real time.
Overwrite Mode OVR When OFF (Default): Non-destructive multi-take mode. New recordings append as layered clip segments.
When ON: Silently mutes existing audio on the track during recording and overwrites with the new take.
Track Loop Mode repeat Loop Button Single-Clip Tracks: Automatically loops the track’s audio continuously to the end of the project timeline (retaining the IN point).
Multi-Clip Tracks: When more than 1 clip is present, this button automatically hides to avoid ambiguity, giving full independent control to the per-clip loop buttons.

Interactive Timeline Clips Layer & Trimming Controls

Spadio3D features a dedicated, multi-layer visual clips timeline bar positioned directly below the transport controls. This layer displays color-coded interactive clip blocks matching each audio and background video track:

  • Timeline Snapping Magnet Toggle (): Located in the camera toolbar directly to the left of the 2D viewer toggle:
    • Enabled (Active Blue): Clip movements, trims, room scene transitions, and automation takes automatically snap magnetically to 00:00:00, current playhead position, loop markers, and neighboring clip boundaries.
    • Disabled: Disables magnetic attraction, allowing free-form movements and trimming with millisecond continuous precision.
    • Persistence: The snapping state is automatically remembered across application sessions.
  • Middle Body Drag (Reposition Clip): Click and drag the center body of any clip block to move it across the timeline with real-time visual movement tracking.
  • Left Trim Handle (Trim IN): Click and drag the left edge of a clip block to non-destructively trim the start boundary. It adjusts the clip’s startTime, duration, and sourceOffset proportionally without stretching or altering the pitch of your media.
  • Right Trim Handle (Trim OUT): Click and drag the right edge to trim the termination boundary. It bounds the duration strictly within the available source audio/video duration without time-stretching.
  • Background Video Clip Synchronization: Video clips on the timeline strictly obey in/out trim points: the video automatically blanks (no video rendered) before the clip start timestamp and halts cleanly when the trimmed OUT point is passed, both in the 2D Equirectangular viewer and the 3D 360 preview sphere.
  • Live Real-Time Auditioning: If playback is running while dragging or trimming a clip, Spadio3D instantly reschedules the audio and video source on the fly, allowing you to audition precise edits without stopping or restarting transport playback!
  • Global Settings Marker Toggles: In Global Settings → 3D Viewport & Visuals:
    • CLIP MARKERS: Enables or disables the timeline markers layer.
    • ONLY ON TRACK SELECT: Automatically hides the clip markers layer when no track is selected, keeping the timeline ultra-clean.
    • ALL MARKERS: Shows clip blocks for all unmuted audio and video tracks simultaneously.

Clip Takes IN / OUT & Looping Controls

Every recorded take or imported audio segment is listed inside the track’s CLIPS / TAKES drawer in a compact control row ([M] [↻] [⏱IN] [start] → [end] [⏱OUT] [✕]):

  • Mute Button (M): Click to mute/unmute a specific clip. Muted clips are greyed out, skipped during audio playback, and omitted from the timeline overview.
  • Clip Loop Button (repeat / ↻): Toggles seamless buffer repetition for that specific clip take:
    • When Enabled: The clip’s OUT point automatically extends to the end of the project timeline while keeping its start IN point intact. The audio repeats smoothly throughout playback.
    • When Disabled: The OUT point snaps back to the natural duration of the audio source file.
    • Multi-Take Independence: When multiple clips exist on the same track, each clip can be looped independently without conflicting with other takes.
  • Snap IN / OUT (schedule): Instantly snaps the clip’s start or end boundary to the current playhead position.
  • Start (IN) & End (OUT) Fields: Type exact timestamps in m:ss.mmm format (e.g. 1:24.500) for sample-accurate trimming.
  • Linear vs. Cyclic Mode (east / sync): Toggle between linear timeline positioning and cyclic loop restarting from 00:00:00.
  • Delete (✕): Removes only that specific take without affecting the rest of the track.
Transport Bar Loop vs. Track/Clip Looping:
• Transport Bar Loop (L): Loops the global timeline playhead over a selected in/out time range across all tracks.
• Track & Clip Looping: Repeats an individual audio file/clip continuously across the timeline without looping the global transport playhead.

Visual Row Indicators

Active Playing Row (Green Outline)

When playback is running, a delicate glowing green outline automatically lights up the clip or automation take currently playing under the playhead position.

Clip Overlap Collision (Red Outline)

If two audio clips overlap in time on the same track, a red warning border highlights the row to prevent unintentional audio doubling.

Hardware Device Selection & MacBook Mic Beamforming

MacBook Microphones Architecture: Modern Apple Silicon MacBooks (M1/M2/M3/M4) utilize a 3-microphone beamformed array under the left speaker grille. macOS delivers this signal on Channel 1 (Left). Spadio3D defaults to Mono – Ch 1 / Left (Duplicated), routing the microphone symmetrically across both ears for 360° binaural freedom.

timeline Automation & Motion Presets Workflow

Spadio3D features a high-precision dual-mode spatial automation suite combining Procedural Motion Clips (PRESETS) with mathematical 3D oscillators and Custom Live Automation (CUSTOM) for frame-by-frame takes.

all_inclusive PRESETS Tab (Motion Clips)

Generate pure, mathematical 3D trajectories (Orbits, Arc Sweeps, Lissajous Figure-8s, Pendulums, Spirals, Square Perimeters, Helical Rises, Vertical Sine waves) with automated repetition timing, quick speed multipliers, and real-time 3D spline previews.

tune CUSTOM Tab (Keyframe Takes)

Live-recorded automation passes, imported ADM BWF envelopes, and baked procedural clips. Edit, stretch, trim, move, or mute individual takes with surgical frame precision.

all_inclusive Procedural Motion Clips & Oscillators

Motion Clips generate flawless geometric sound trajectories anchored automatically to the sound object’s position:

  • Geometric Trajectories:
    • 360° Orbit: Continuous circular rotation around the listener head or a custom radius.
    • Arc Sweep: Customizable angular arc (e.g. 180° front-stage sweep, 90° corner transition) with adjustable span.
    • Figure-8 (Lissajous): Infinity / bowtie spatial pattern. Includes dedicated X & Y Offsets to reposition the crossing node anywhere in the room away from the listener.
    • Pendulum / Linear: Smooth oscillating line along the X (Left-Right), Z (Front-Back), Y (Vertical), or Arc axis.
    • Spiral In / Out: Progressive inward or outward swirling vortex with expanding or contracting radius.
    • Square Perimeter: Linear 4-corner path traveling along the boundaries of the room.
    • Helical Rise: Upward or downward corkscrew spiral combining continuous rotation with vertical ascent/descent.
  • Seamless Starting Reference: The motion clip automatically takes the object’s distance, rotation angle, and height prior to the clip start as its origin reference. Moving or rotating the sphere before the clip start instantly recalculates and updates the 3D spline trajectory.
  • Automated Repetition Speed Calculation: Selecting 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x repetitions automatically calculates the exact mathematical frequency required to complete that exact number of full cycles over the clip’s duration. Trimming or resizing the clip instantly re-adapts the speed. Set to ∞ (Infinity) for continuous loop mode.
  • Quick Speed Multipliers (½x / 2x): Instant one-click double or half speed buttons located right next to the planar SPEED and vertical V-SPEED controls.
  • Vertical Elevation Oscillator: Add independent 3D elevation modulation to any planar shape with selectable CW / CCW direction, Sine Wave, Linear Ramp, or Bounce profiles and decoupled vertical speed control.
  • One-Click BAKE Functionality: Click the BAKE button on any motion clip to convert the mathematical oscillator curves into editable, frame-accurate keyframed takes. Baking automatically transitions the drawer to the CUSTOM tab for immediate fine-tuning.

Automation Modes

  • ARM (Write): Arms parameter automation recording. Move 3D spheres in the soundstage or drag mixer faders during playback to write automation points.
  • READ: When active (Default), the audio engine continuously evaluates and applies recorded automation curves.
  • CLEAR: Clears all automation curves and resets the IN/OUT takes list for the track.

Real-Time 3D Splines & Speed-Compensated Comet Trails

When a track is selected, Spadio3D visualizes its spatial movement in real-time inside the 3D soundstage:

  • 3D Trajectory Spline: Renders the clean, stable first cycle of procedural motion clips or custom automation. Shows dynamic Red Clipping Plateaus whenever a trajectory exceeds the room’s physical Floor or Ceiling boundaries.
  • Speed-Compensated Comet Tail: While playback is active, a glowing comet trail follows behind the 3D sphere. Spadio3D automatically calculates arc velocity to maintain an equal physical tail length (1.5 meters) across all speeds.

Condensed vs. Separate View Modes

Click the view toggle button in the IN → OUT header to switch between workflow perspectives:

CONDENSED Mode (Default)

Groups multi-parameter movements recorded in the same pass (e.g. a 3D gesture modulating Distance, Pan/Azimuth, and Height simultaneously) into one single row labeled MOV or MIX. Adjust boundaries or delete the entire 3D move with a single click (×).

SEPARATE Mode

Expands every parameter into an individual lane take (DIST, PAN, HGT, VOL, ROOM, AUX) for precise, surgical per-parameter timing edits.

Interactive In/Out Point Editing: Move, Stretch & Trim Modes

Between the IN and OUT timecode inputs of every take, Spadio3D features a 3-way mode switch button (↔ MOVE / ⇔ STRETCH / ✂ TRIM). Click the button to cycle between editing modes:

↔ MOVE Mode (Default)

Functions exactly like moving an audio clip on a timeline. Updating the IN point (e.g. from 00:08:000 to 00:01:000) preserves the exact duration of the take and shifts all recorded lane points in time (e.g. 00:01:000 → 00:02:000). The timeline marker moves accordingly and automation plays back immediately at the new position. Updating the OUT point slides the take to terminate at that timestamp while preserving duration.

⇔ STRETCH Mode

Time-scales and interpolates all recorded automation points proportionally across the newly defined In/Out span. Ideal for speeding up, slowing down, or stretching a 3D orbit or panning sweep across a longer musical section without re-recording.

✂ TRIM Mode

Crops the automation window. Moving the In or Out point trims and bounds the recorded points strictly within the specified window without altering their internal timing.

Snap to Playhead (⏱): Click the green IN schedule icon to snap the take start to the current playhead, or the orange OUT schedule icon to snap the end. In ↔ MOVE mode, snapping the start to the playhead instantly slides the entire 3D motion to the playhead in a single click!

Automation Take Muting (M)

Each automation take includes a dedicated M (Mute) button. Muting an automation take bypasses its recorded points during that time window and immediately hides its 3D visual spline, allowing you to audition alternative movements without permanently erasing automation data.

Context-Aware Timeline Automation Bar

A parallel automation timeline bar sits directly below the main audio timeline. To keep your workspace clean, it only appears when a track’s AUTOMATION accordion menu is opened. The bar renders sleek, color-coded marker pills matching your track color and updates dynamically as you move, stretch, or trim takes.

auto_fix_high The Ultimate Dolby Atmos Remastering & Multi-Track Summing Workflow

Unlike Logic Pro—where imported surround beds are locked into rigid 7.1.2 channel configurations that cannot easily be separated, re-routed, or converted into moving 3D objects—Spadio3D gives you total freedom to re-architect any Atmos mix:

  • 1-Click Bidirectional Bed ↔ Object Conversion: Any channel imported from an ADM BWF file can be converted into a free-moving 3D audio object with a single click (via the 3D / 2D toggle on the track header), or vice-versa (converting any 3D spatial object into a fixed surround bed channel).
  • Any Track to Any Channel (Automatic Signal Summing): You can assign any number of tracks to the same destination bed channel. The audio engine automatically sums them together into a single cohesive audio signal on that channel upon playback and export (for example: routing 4 different vocal tracks all to the Center (C) channel sums all 4 voices seamlessly into the discrete Center channel of the 7.1.2 Composite Bed).
  • Flexible Bed Channel Reassignment: In 2D Bed mode, instantly reassign any imported or recorded stem to any surround speaker (L/R, C, LFE, Lss/Rss, Lsr/Rsr, Lts/Rts) via the track dropdown.
  • Effortless Atmos Remastering: Re-position objects, adjust binaural HRTF curves, reshape physical room acoustics, and re-export fully compliant ADM BWF files with cleanly structured Composite Beds in minutes.
